<p>Well&#8230;no, that&#8217;s not right. Eating fewer than 1000 calories a day can, at best be a short-lived attempt at dieting, at worst it could be a recipe for long term health problems.</p>
<p>Your body is not designed to function well on a very low calorie diet. In fact, it goes into starvation or famine mode and tries to preserve essential functions at the expense of the less essential ones.</p>
<p>To avoid the dangers of a very low calorie diet, it is best to follow such a diet under medical supervision.</p>

<p>In recent years, researchers have reported that very low calorie diets can promote body chemistry and metabolism changes that lead to improved health and longer life. The findings of their study supported the theory that eating less prolongs life in laboratory mice and rats and could possibly do the same for people by slowing the aging process and preventing:</p>

<p>However, due to the expense of such an expansive study, no proof exists that calorie restriction really works <strong>in people</strong>. In fact, the body is designed to burn calories for fuel and severely restricting calories prevents our bodies from burning body fat efficiently. As a result, weight loss slows down because your body is designed to survive. The dangers of a very low calorie diet are that your body goes into starvation mode. Instead of burning the stores of body fat, it works to protect them and instead uses lean muscle for energy. Loss of muscle equals a lower ability to burn calories and a lower metabolic rate. The end result is that your body needs less calories to function and in the long run you don&#8217;t lose weight. In fact, many people gain weight and wonder why because they are eating less!</p>

<p>How does metabolism work? Our metabolic rate is the rate at which our bodies burn calories. Everyone is different because the more muscle you have the higher your metabolic rate will be. So, building muscle helps burn calories, while less muscle brings about a lower metabolic rate. This is why young people burn calories faster than older people. The dangers of a very low calorie diet drawing energy by using lean muscle for energy is like a catch 22. When you eat too few calories, you burn fewer calories, lose muscle and require even less as your body thinks it is surviving starvation and our metabolic rate falls.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many of my personal training clients have trouble losing weight, even on a very low calorie diet. For that reason, earlier this year, several approached me for my suggestions on crash diets that work. I know from experience that most very low calorie diets, are basically crash diets, and caution must be taken. Upon researching these low calorie diets, I discovered the #1 mistake to avoid.</p>
<p>Calories are measurements of energy, and provide the fuel our cells need to function properly. Cells are like little &#8220;factories&#8221;, working tirelessly to keep our metabolisms in good working order.</p>
<p>The &#8220;preferred&#8221; source of fuel for our cells is glucose (sugar), which humans take in by consuming carbohydrate foods such as potatoes,bread,fruits,rice, pasta etc. Our cells burn glucose efficiently, and in the case of simple sugars, very quickly.</p>
<p>Simple sugars are composed largely of white sugar. Simple sugars are what we would recognize as &#8220;sweets.&#8221;</p>
<p>On a very low calorie diet, our body is largely deprived of the energy cells need to perform their work. This is particularly true of brain cells. Brain cells require glucose to survive.</p>
<p>Put in a situation where very little fuel is being provided dietarily, such as a very low calorie diet, the body adapts in 2 important ways:</p>
<p>* The metabolic rate is lowered as the body assumes &#8220;starvation&#8221; mode. Calories are burned at a lower rate to make better use of them. For this reason, individuals may have difficulty losing weight, even when eating few calories.</p>
<p>* because very little glucose is being provided dietarily, the body must turn to lean body mass for protein. As the body breaks down protein, the final molecule resembles glucose. The body is literally &#8220;eating itself&#8221; alive!</p>
<p>Among the biggest mistakes to avoid on a very low calorie diet, is to consume inadequate amounts of dietary protein. And, as always, consult a physician before starting any diet.</p>
<p>So, ARE there any crash diets that work?</p>

<p>Earlier this year, several of my personal training clients approached me with the desire to lose weight quickly. They had set new year&#8217;s resolutions, and wanted desperately to keep them!</p>

<p>Can you strip fat from your body fast with out losing muscle mass?  I am talking turbo fast fat loss where you are losing anywhere from ¾ of a pound of fat to 2 pounds of fat a day.  If you want to get results like this you have to think way outside of the box.  Even if you can&#8217;t seem to ever get rid of the fat that is ruining your muscle definition the hCG Diet Solution will bring the results you desire faster than you ever dreamed possible.</p>
<p><strong>Very Low Calorie Diet</strong></p>
<p>John, a trainer at Fitness Inn,  summarized the general attitude toward very low calorie dieting when he said, “As a trainer I despise low calorie dieting and I believe it has no place in the gym or anywhere else.”  When asked to give the reasons for avoiding very low calorie dieting he quickly fired off these points.</p>
<p> <strong>Loss of muscle mass</strong>  <strong>Damage to body organs</strong> <strong>Disruption of the body&#8217;s metabolism</strong>
<p>“There are a lot more if you have an hour or so to listen”, he continued, shooting me a stern glance.</p>
<p><strong>Loss of muscle mass</strong></p>
<p>As it turns out the body will metabolize your muscles faster than it will metabolize your fat if it can&#8217;t get enough energy to operate on during peak demand.  So when you engage in a very low calorie diet you risk losing the muscle mass you worked so hard to get.</p>
<p><strong>Damage to body organs</strong></p>
<p>Very Low Calorie dieting causes some of your body&#8217;s organs to shut down because they do not have the resources to keep operating.  The body will shut down some organs in order to keep the more necessary ones functioning, however those that get shut down can suffer permanent damage.</p>
<p><strong>Disruption of the body&#8217;s metabolism</strong></p>
<p>When the body is starved it begins to slow down its metabolic rate in order to conserve its energy source, which is calories.  Very low calorie dieting causes this to happen.  The really bad thing about this is that when you finally increase your calorie intake the extra slow metabolism causes you to store even more of your daily caloric intake as fat.  You gain fat even faster than before you went on the diet.</p>
<p><strong>What good is very low calorie dieting<br /></strong></p>
<p>The only thing that very low calorie dieting is good for is rapid weight loss but as we can see it will not be sustainable and could very well end up damaging your body and ruin your chances at attaining your goals.</p>
<p><strong>A new approach<br /></strong></p>
<p>But what if we could find a very low calorie diet that would give us the rapid weight loss in fat alone with NONE of the side effects of very low calorie dieting?  Well, there is such a diet and it is found in the hCG hormone.  In short hCG is a naturally occurring hormone in both men and women.  It is produced in the placenta and aids in the sexual development of the fetus.  It is approved by the FDA for the treatment of reproductive issues in men and women but not for weight loss.  Another effect that hGC has on the both men and women is that it causes the hypothalamus to activate the body&#8217;s fat cells.  It opens them up to either release fat of store fat at a very high rate.  This is the secret to the hCG diet solution.</p>
<p><strong>The hCG Diet Solution</strong></p>
<p>The hCG diet solution or as some have mistakenly called it the hGC diet involves taking the hCG hormone either by injection or sublingually which then sets to work on the hypothalamus. When taking hGC and going on the 500 calorie hcg diet your body will make up the calorie deficit by accessing the fat stored in your fat cells.  You will metabolize up to 2500 calories of fat a day which results in losing fat steadily and rapidly.  Losing 1 to 2 pounds a day of fat is not uncommon because the body is drawing its calories from your fat cells. You are still receiving the nutrition your body needs and therefore you will suffer NONE of the side effects associated with very low calorie dieting.</p>
<p><strong>Back to John<br /></strong></p>
<p>John would have been the last person on earth that you would have thought might consider very low calorie dieting in order to rid his body of stubborn fat, but one day when he was laminating to his doctor  about his stubborn fat the doctor recommended the hCG solution to him.  John said: The hCG diet solution to ridding my body of stubborn fat frightened me a little bit, so I researched it heavily and then I tried it on my own before recommending it to my clients. I personally have also used hGC to get rid of stubborn fat and it works great.  I lost a lot of fat and had none of the usual side effects. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>About one-fourth of adult Americans are obese. This increases the risk of death from high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. Traditional weight loss techniques like low calorie diets are recommended in order to lose 800 to 1500 calories a day. Combined with regular exercise, obese American will shed off those excess pounds in no time. Another method that brings significant weight loss in a short amount of time is the very low calorie diet or the VLCD.</p>
<p>The very low calorie diet or VLCDs are generally commercially prepared to lose 800 calories or less by replacing the usual food intake of the individual. This is not similar to the over-the-counter meal alternatives. The latter is said to serve as substitutes for a meal or two a day. The former, on the other hand, is used under proper and strict medical supervision. This is to produce the significant weight loss in a short period of time which moderately to severely obese Americans need. </p>
<p>The very low calorie diet or VLCDs are safe as long as they are taken under proper medical supervision from credible doctors. Patients with a BMI or body mass index amounting to more than 30 must resort to this method. BMI is a formula that takes into consideration the individual’s height and weight. </p>
<p>This is how you calculate a person’s BMI. A person’s weight in terms of kilograms is divided by his height in terms of meters squared. Patients with BMI ranging from 27 to 30 must also reserve the use of the very low calorie diet or VLCD for medical complications that are rooted from their obesity.</p>
<p>Take note that the very low calorie diet or VLCDs are not suggested for breastfeeding or pregnant women. This is also not suitable for children and adolescents. The only exception is when these individuals are going through specialized treatment procedures. </p>
<p>There is very little information available when it comes to the very low calorie diet or VLCDs in older individuals. Individuals over the age of 50 experience the depletion of their lean body mass, therefore resorting to VLCD may seem impractical. </p>
<p>Persons over the age of 50 cannot tolerate the side effects attributed to the very low calorie diet or VLCD because of the medical conditions that are dependent on the entire process. To resolve this, doctors look at it on a case to case basis. They evaluate the possible risks and the probable benefits of older individuals’ drastic weight losses. They also look into the medical problems these patients are experiencing and come up with other remedies. </p>
